Governance

NFOWD runs under the management of a General Council and an 11 member Executive Council that is elected to office by the general members every two years. The day-to-day operations are run by the Secretariat based in Dhaka, headed by the Director.

The Executive Committee

The 8th Executive Committee was elected to Office in the Annual General Meeting held on 28th March 2006. Thematic Groups & Committee

Over the last four years or so, the scope of intervention of NFOWD has been getting wider. It had required systematic and expert input to gear-up all planning and implementation. In order to cope with this, NFOWD had decided to initiate formation of Thematic Groups on specific broad areas of interventions. The focus and purpose of such formation was to consolidate pool of experts in planning and implementation of its intervention.

Based on the rationale, NFOWD decided to initiate Thematic Groups on following areas:

  • Assistive Technology & Accessibility

  • Community Based Rehabilitation

  • Employment and job creation

  • Inclusion of people with disabilities into education

  • Prevention and early intervention of Disability

  • Rights of children with disabilities

  • Rights of women with disabilities

  • Self-Help initiatives

Committee on Policy & Legislation on Disability, NFOWD also has a Committee, which overrides all the thematic groups and looks into & guides NFOWD in the policy & legislative issues.
